Mejbani mangsho or mejbani beef is one of the most famous dishes in Chittagong, Bangladesh . The main feature of this cooking is the abundance of spices with the beef.

Ingredients:
Beaf : 1 kg
Onion (chopped) : ½ cup
Tomato (sliced) : 1 piece
Green chili : 5 pieces
Fragrant spices (garam masala powder) : ½ tablespoon
Mustard oil: ½ cup
Water
For mejbani masala -
Cumin : ½ tablespoon
White mustard : ½ tablespoon
Coriander : ½ tablespoon
Anise : ½ tablespoon
Poppy seed : ½ tablespoon
Fenugreek : ½ tablespoon
Dry red chili : 4 pieces
Mace : 1 piece
Nutmeg : ½ piece
For meat -
Red chili powder : 1 tablespoon
Turmeric powder : ½ tablespoon
Ginger paste : 1 tablespoon
Garlic paste : 1 tablespoon
Onion paste : 2 tablespoons
Peanut paste : 1 tablespoon
Cardamom : 4 pieces
Black pepper : 10 pieces
Cloves : 3 pieces
Cinnamon : 2 pieces
Bay leaf : 2 pieces
Mustard oil
Salt : as per taste
Instructions:
Wash the meat and drain water.
Keep cumin, white mustard, coriander, anise, dry red chili, fenugreek, mace, nutmeg and poppy seed in a pan and fry it in low heat.
Grind all the fried ingredients.
Add this mixed spices on the meat and mix well.
Add onion paste, garlic paste, ginger paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, black pepper, bay leaf, peanut paste, 2 tablespoons mustard oil and salt. Mix it well and marinate for some times.
Heat ½ cup mustard oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot, add chopped onions and tomatoes and fry until golden brown and tender.
Add the marinated meat and mix it well. Cook it for about 15 minutes.
When the oil is separated, add 2 cup of water and cover it. Cook it on low heat for about 40 minutes.
Before serving, sprinkle some garam masala and chopped green chili.
Serve hot with steamed rice or pulao.
